I grew up in Wenatchee, Washington where my family had originally established Mills Bros. Men’s Clothing Store in 1906. With a deep sense of community and family legacy, at an early age I decided I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps and become a dentist.
Raised as a proud 3rd generation Washington Husky, the choice was clear and I began my eight years of enjoying games from the student section and pursuing my education at UW. During this time I met my wife Blair, who grew up in Athens, Georgia but realized that “Real Dawgs Wear Purple”.
Following graduation from dental school, I decided to seek further training, focused toward my interest in surgical procedures, specifically dental implants. This desire to be able to provide the best care for my patients took me to the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Hospital. Here I had the incredibly rewarding experience of providing state of the art, comprehensive dental care for our veterans.
After spending my first two years in dental practice in San Francisco, my wife and I decided we were ready to put down roots in Washington. We are raising our son Calvin, chasing our dog George, and are members of Bethany Community Church. I feel blessed to come to work each day at Swanson Dental, a place with the same family legacy and sense of community that initially attracted me to the profession. It is an honor to work in a place that stresses quality and patient care above all. The results of this 60+ years of striving for perfection is evident as I meet generations of families who have been cared for by Dr. Richard and Kris Swanson.

Often referred to as “invisible braces," Invisalign is a great alternative to traditional wire braces. Using clear aligners, Invisalign can straighten crowded, crooked, or gapped teeth, and it does so typically faster than traditional braces at a similar or lesser cost. We offer Invisalign here at our office.

Over 60 years ago, the original founder of Swanson Dental Associates, Dr. Richard D. Swanson, graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he later also served on the faculty. His son, Dr. Kris Swanson, followed in his father’s footsteps, graduating from the same program in 1983. Associate Dr. Brian Mills is a third generation Washington Husky and also a proud graduate of the University Washington School of Dentistry.
UW’s dental program has long been recognized as one of the strongest programs in the world. As of 2019, the University of Washington School of Dentistry was ranked No. 2 in the world among dental schools in the new Academic Ranking of World Universities by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.

We are accredited through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. AACD's Accreditation Program was formed in 1985 and began offering postgraduate certification in the field in 1986. AACD Accreditation has grown into the preeminent cosmetic dentistry testing standard within dentistry, including written exams and submission of actual case-work in specific cosmetic dentistry disciplines.
